Getting healthy is easy, staying that way is the hard part. I’ve been overweight for just about all my life, but I still eat healthy and work out. I’ve lost weight , but I don’t’ starve myself or worry about what anyone else says. Losing weight is about you and no one else.

Some seem to think that if you are not a size1 or 2 than you are not healthy, that’s not true. Everyone isn’t made to be the same size, but everyone should be healthy to a certain point. Don’t you agree?

I use to eat more than I should and didn’t mind if it was fried, baked or boiled as long as I ate. As I got older I noticed how easy it was to gain weight and how harder it was too lose it. I didn’t want to be obese, no one in my family is obese and I certainly was not going to be the first. I started to make a change by being more active. I’ve discovered that walking is a very effective exercise method. I fell in love with it and started walking at least 3 to 4 times a week.

I want to be a hot mama, not a fat mama! I wanted to look better in my clothes and not be embarrass of my belly roles when it came to wearing certain outfits. Plus I want to live long enough to see my kids become responsible adults, to see my grandchildren and hopefully live long enough to see my great grandchildren.

Eventually I started reducing my meal sizes, adding more veggies and fruit to my diet and alternate my workout regimens so that I wouldn’t get bored with it. As I work to achieve greater health the more results I would see and I liked it. I loved looking in the mirror seeing my body change before my eyes for the better.

Cherries became my favorite fruit, at first it was strawberries. I started eating more watermelon, watching how I would cook my foods and I switch most of my foods to whole grain, reduce fat and fat free. Whole grains make you stay fuller longer and the nutritional benefits are amazing! When you eat right you get healthier skin, stronger immune system, more energy and better health. I read up on foods that keep your body strong and shield it from infections and illnesses.

Becoming more healthier and putting great knowledge in your life can change you and your family’s life for the better. It’s a great thing that I have chosen to take these important steps to be better, because now my kids are picking up on my healthy eating habits too.
