Health Information about Treadmills Are An Essential Part Of A Healthy Life Plan
An essential part of a healthy life plan includes an exercise routine which will not only work around your schedule, but something you can do year round and anywhere you want to be.
Running or walking is one of the best forms of exercise compared to other exercises such as Pilates, or weightlifting because of the natural way your body moves. You can also perform this exercise anywhere you are and need very little equipment. As a result, you will be more likely to continue running/walking throughout your life. If you are serious about taking advantage of this natural form of exercise, you will need to prepare yourself for unexpected events such as rain, snow or pesky neighbors. The safest and most convenient way to run or walk is by using a treadmill.
If you are considering buying a treadmill, there are a few things you should familiarize yourself with before actually going out (or online) and purchasing one:
1. Price: When it comes to treadmills, the more you pay the better machine you will get. This is because you are paying for added accessories and more stability. Compare it to buying a car. The basic model will do the job. You might become bored with the lack of extras, but if you are on a budget, this will do fine for you. Remember, you can always upgrade. Then there comes the mid-range model. More accessories are added, which can make the ride smoother and a bit more lively, and the price is still pretty sensible. If you are really in the mood to splurge, the high quality treadmills will shock you with more bells and whistles than you could ever dream of. Some people, however, may become overwhelmed by all the present courses, heart monitors, incline levels, cup holders, book holders, and digital programming offered by top-of-the-line treadmills. Browse around online to see which add-ons you will enjoy and which you can live without, this will narrow down your choices and keep you from getting too carried away by the latest and greatest.
]]>
2. Stability: Make sure you wear your workout clothes when shopping for treadmills, you will want to “test drive” certain models to see if they are stable enough for your running/walking form. You will want to be cautious of machines that shake or rattle when you are going full speed. A good stable ride will make a world of difference in your safety and will also cut down on the noise level. Also take into consideration the motor volume, if you plan to read, watch the television or listen to music, a noisy motor will quickly become a big distraction.
3. Size: In the store and especially online, size can be deceiving. Make sure to measure the room which will be housing this machine and allow for plenty of “walk-around” space. When you are buying, check the dimensions. Size is not always an indicator of quality.
Treadmills might seem a bit pricy, but they will pay for themselves over time with convenience and indoor safety. Plus, your exercise routine can be more consistent with a treadmill. Look online for bargains. You might be surprised by the prices and options available. With a little research, you will surely be able to find the perfect treadmill for you and your budget.

A Vital Part of Mental Health

Health Information about A Vital Part of Mental Health
Help lines are a vital part of the mental health field and provide a service to those most in need of counseling. They’re a link between a person in crisis and those who can help navigate the murky waters while guiding callers to a safer thought process. These lines are manned by personnel with extensive training and who remain calm and level-headed when the voice on the other end is agitated, frightened, unsure or desperate. Often, by the time a caller has reached out to a help line, circumstances have already become overwhelming and sometimes dangerous. It’s critical that those who are there to answer those calls can quickly assess the state of mind and whether or not further steps should be taken to protect not only the caller, but others who might be at risk. Whether or not there are diagnosed mental disorders or conditions, each of us have had those blue moments and feelings of being misunderstood. For many, these moments and thoughts go beyond normal feelings we experience. It’s usually at this point most reach out for help. The availability of help lines are have prevented untold tragedies and those who contribute to the success of these avenues find satisfaction in knowing they’ve played a small role in another’s life simply by listening and providing encouragement and guidance. The anonymity of these lines enable callers to feel safe enough to discuss situations they might not otherwise be able to do in a face to face conversation with friends or family. And, too, many feel as though those around them play a role in the way they’re feeling. Job losses or fears of job loss, divorce, death, children growing up and moving away; these are all triggers that can put the wheels in motion for these feelings of despair. The problem is one out of twelve will develop disorders as a result of attempting to deal with the event. These disorders can be mild or can progress into serious problems that affect one’s quality of life. Not intended to replace traditional counseling, these avenues are meant to provide the caller a bit of reassurance and encouragement to follow through with a few counseling sessions. Still, the professionals who are waiting to hear from callers are educated and experienced and are there because of a sincere desire to help callers. Although still widely used, the traditional three a.m. phone call has a new look. Technologies such as instant messaging, chat programs and even computer cameras have provided even more tools to provide better guidance to callers around the world. And too, with the lack of medical insurance, courtesy of a weak economy and record job losses, a help line is often the only resource available to many. This is presenting a quagmire of sorts since a counselor on the other end of a phone line is hindered by distance from those who are in serious jeopardy of bringing physical harm to themselves or even others. Help lines aren’t intended to replace traditional counseling, but it appears to be doing just that for so many. Natural Health Therapies and Cancer ? Part One

Health Information about Natural Health Therapies and Cancer ? Part One
Cancer. The word itself is alarming. It sounds like a death sentence. In many cases, it is. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be that way. The topic of cancer is so large that we will take at least three or four articles to even begin to touch on the main points. Like any other illness, the more you know about it, the better you’ll be able to deal with it. For example, how much did you know about your own health issues before they touched your life personally? What would you have done differently in your life if you knew that it would prevent the problem from happening? Would you have been willing to make the changes? I imagine that you would. You have that opportunity with cancer. In a series of articles, we’ll cover not only the natural health therapies for cancer but the lifestyle changes that help prevent cancer as well.
The increase in the rate of cancer is amazing. A hundred years ago, 1 in 33 people had cancer; today, 1 in 3 people either have cancer or will develop it. Statistics show that one American life is lost to cancer every 45 seconds. There is no other topic in medicine that has such urgency. So, exactly what is cancer? Basically, it is nature gone overboard. Healthy cells stop functioning properly for a variety of reasons and then begin to reproduce damaged copies of themselves. The natural process of cells multiplying becomes accelerated because these new mutant cells are not regulated by the body’s normal controls. In addition, the life span of these cells is not controlled any longer, meaning that cancer cells become virtually immortal.
There are types and stages of cancer. Of the 150 different types of cancer, there are 5 major groups:
• Carcinomas – solid tumors from cells in the surface of the mouth, nose, throat, lung airways, skin, GI tract, GU tract, breast, and thyroid. Lung, prostate, stomach, skin, colon, and breast cancers are in this type.
• Sarcomas – solid tumor from bones, fat, and other soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, abdomen, heart, central nervous system, and blood vessels. These are the most rare and most deadly of solid tumors.
• Leukemias – a blood-borne cancer type characterized by an abnormal production of white blood cells.
]]>
• Lymphomas – solid masses of abnormal white blood cells concentrated in the lymph system. Examples of this type of cancer include Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
• Myelomas – rare tumors from antibody-producing or blood cell-producing areas in the bone marrow.
Cancer is often described by what stage it is in. Staging in cancer refers to a scale used to determine amount of cancer, its location, size, and degree of containment. The four different levels listed below describe the stages of cancer.
• Stage I – earliest, most curable stage. Local tumor only.
• Stage II – some spreading of cancer to surrounding tissue and maybe nearby lymph nodes.
• Stage III – involves spreading to distant lymph nodes
• Stage IV – most advanced, least easily cured. Cancer has spread to distant organs.
Why do some people get cancer and others don’t? What is the trigger that turns these healthy cells into mutants? What causes cancer? There are at least 33 contributing causes, according to various researchers. Each of these factors could be an article in itself so I’ll just provide you with the list for now. With this information, you can easily research these contributing items to increase your cancer knowledge. The factors that can contribute to cancer are:
1. Sunlight
2. Nuclear Radiation
3. Pesticide/Herbicide Residues
4. Industrial Toxins
5. Polluted Water
6. Tobacco and Smoking
7. Chronic Electromagnetic Field Exposure
8. Hormone Therapies
9. Immune-Suppressive Drugs
10. Irradiated Foods
11. Food Additives
12. Mercury Toxicity
13. Dental Factors
14. Chronic Stress
15. Depressed Thyroid Action
16. Intestinal Toxicity and Digestive Impairment
17. Parasites
18. Viruses
19. Diet and Nutritional Deficiencies
20. Nerve Interference Fields
21. Toxic Emotions
22. Blocked Detoxification Pathways
23. Chlorinated Water
24. Fluoridated Water
25. Ionizing Radiation
26. Geopathic Stress
27. Sick Building Syndrome
28. Free Radicals
29. Cellular Oxygen Deficiency
30. Cellular Terrain
31. Oncogenes
32. Genetic Predisposition
33. Miasm
Now that we have a little background knowledge on cancer, we will begin to cover a wide range of clinically proven natural health therapies that can be helpful for people with various forms of cancer. Each of these types of complementary medicine has a wealth of scientific research available for review, thanks to the ongoing research of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In addition, each of the therapies is currently available through physicians with outstanding medical backgrounds. The bottom line is that all of the cancer therapies that I will discuss in the next few articles are valid and have been documented in scientific literature.
In upcoming articles, we will explore the use of the following methods for cancer therapy supported by scientific evidence:
• Nutrition – Dietary changes and Anti-Cancer Nutritional Supplements
• Anti-Cancer Herbal Supplements
• Innovative Anti-Cancer Substances
• Physical Support Therapies – Detoxification, Biological Dentistry, Water Therapy, Heat Therapy, Bodywork/Therapeutic Massage/Exercise, Qi Gong
• Energy Support Therapies – Electrodermal Screening, Magnetic Therapy, Light Therapy
In closing, please remember that early detection and prevention is the key to beating cancer. Here are the 8 Early Warning Signs for Cancer. If you experience any of these signs or symptoms, contact your physician immediately.
1. A Lump in the Breast or Testicles.
2. A Change in a Wart or Mole.
3. A Skin Sore or Sore Throat that Does Not Heal.
4. A Change in Bowel or Bladder Habits.
5. A Persistent Cough or Coughing Blood.
6. Constant Indigestion or Trouble Swallowing
7. Unusual Bleeding or Vaginal Discharge
8. Chronic Fatigue

Last Updated on Monday, 5 September 2011 03:10 Written by Natural Health Team Monday, 5 September 2011 03:10
Health Information about College Do’s & Don’ts ? Tips for leading a healthy life: Part 1
College life is different from home life. You have to cook for yourself unlike before. You tend to eat outside frequently or gorge on junk food as you are too tired or lazy to cook. Frequent late night parties (or perhaps last minute late night studying), pizzas, little or no exercise and a tire around your tummy can be the characteristics of your college life. It is important, therefore, that you do all you can to lead a healthy life in college. This article is part 1 of the series that provides simple do’s and don’ts for leading a healthy life. Healthy Life Tip #1: Walk whenever you can Do your best to walk around as much as you can. Instead of taking shortcuts to go somewhere, use the longer way. Walk around from corner to corner in the campus. Walking is the best and simplest exercise that you can quickly do all through the day while performing your regular tasks. Healthy Life Tip #2: Use the gym in your college campus The gym in your college campus is not only going to be close by, but also likely to be free or relatively cheaper than gyms off-campus. Utilize the gym to work out on a regular basis. Healthy Life Tip #3: Find a workout partner If you find it easier to workout with a partner encouraging you and pushing you at all times, find yourself a workout partner. This person should be someone who is equally interested in working out on a regular basis and one who is willing to help you out in meeting your goals while you help him out in meeting his goals.
mylikes.com Heres a peek at our healthy living style. We shop mainly at Costco and trader Joes. Although we spend more money on natural/organic foods, its well worth it!!! Benji brought up a good point that its worth paying a little more for natural foods than it is paying for a heart attack. When I say natural, I mean non-processed foods, no high fructose corn syrup, etc. As for exercising, I personally do not enjoy it! Thankfully theres Zumba where you can work out yet have fun! Another great workout are kettlebells. It’s a full body workout with minimal time

The Value of Exercise As Part Of Any Alternative Natural Health Plan Should Not Be Underestimated
Last Updated on Thursday, 1 September 2011 07:10 Written by Natural Health Team Thursday, 1 September 2011 07:10
Health Information about The Value of Exercise As Part Of Any Alternative Natural Health Plan Should Not Be Underestimated
Alternative natural health is a style of living that, with some luck, will help a person live a higher quality life, for a longer period of time, by eating healthy, reducing the dependency on prescription medications, and exercising.
I have personally seen the advantages of exercise combined with alternative natural health in my family, as well as the challenges lack of exercise can often times present. My family does not come from some tribe of mountain top dwellers who exist on berries and bark. No, we are just average working class Americans that choose to adopt an alternative natural health approach to living. My parents both in their mid seventies and are a tiny snapshot into how exercise or lack of exercise can impact those who live similar lifestyles. Both currently are not having to use prescription medications, but my father seems to be more healthy. Why, is it genetics? No, there is history of heart disease. Is it a super low cholesterol diet? No, not that either. The difference seems to be in his three fold approach of exercise, alternative natural health supplements, and fish oil.
It is hard to tell which one of his cornerstones of healthy living are leading the parade, but let’s look at what the statistics tell us about aging and exercise.
]]>
*Diabetes: Men who received counseling on techniques for effective weight loss, making dietary changes, and boosting exercise were 58 percent less likely to develop diabetes. Other studies have shown that exercise reduces complications and extends life after diabetes is diagnosed.
*Stronger bones and joints: In one study of postmenopausal women, participating in a one year walking program modestly improved bone mineral density of the spine. Another study found that leg strength increased up to 13 percent in 26 women age 63 to 86 after they bicycled twice a week for 10 weeks.
*Cancer: While not well documented, anecdotal mounting evidence suggests that regular aerobic exercise may reduce the risk of developing certain types of cancer, particularly colon, lung, prostate, and breast cancer.
*Mental decline: Tests of the cognitive abilities of nearly 6,000 women age 65 and older over a 6 to 8 year period showed a slight benefit from exercise: The most active women (walking on average over 2 miles a day) experienced a 17 percent decline in memory compared to 25 percent among the women who walked the least (an average of a half mile a week). A 5 year study of seasoned citizens age 65 and older showed that participants that were most active were 50 percent less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease and 40 percent less likely to develop dementia or mental impairment than those who were inactive.
Certainly with numbers like the ones above the value of exercise as part of an alternative natural health plan cannot be underestimated. Nevertheless, it is always a good idea to consult your doctor before hitting the hiking trails, walking tract, or swimming pool, to establish a safe and effective exercise plan.
Additionally, many natural health minded individual are choosing to combine exercise with alternative natural health remedies. This is a powerful one two punch worth considering that you can learn more about purchase remedies.com.
