Dealing with chronic pain patients often make people uncomfortable do not know what to do. The sick have a sensitive feeling, on the other side of the family usually go shock when there are members who are sick so it is difficult to cover up feelings of sorrow.
The sick man whose body will feel powerless to charge other people, especially when the bandwagon should think about the cost. Meanwhile, other family members also feel the sadness and the fear of getting bad news.
Psychologists Rahadi Asih Sali, MPsi says people around the patient, especially family members play a crucial role in the psychology of the patient. So that family members are reminded to keep providing the spirit and shows no sadness in front of the patient.
“Psychological reactions such as anger, shock, sadness or despair when diagnosed with a chronic illness is a natural and normal reaction in the face of an unexpected thing,” said Sali Rahadi Asih MPsi 2010 National Meeting in the event LGK and GIST patients in Wisma Mennegpora , Jakarta.
Not all patients can get through this problem easily because it requires positive attitudes of those around him. Support from fellow patients can also evoke the spirit of never give up because they also felt that experienced by patients.
Family support is very important in the process of adjustment of patients because many things that must be considered ranging from changes in lifestyle, financial as well as patterns of thought.
We recommend that family members did not show sadness or stress in front of the patient, but try to always see the passion and fun. This would make the patient does not feel a burden to her family and can not easily give up helping him to deal with the disease condition.
“A positive life attitude must also be implanted in the patient is grateful for what is, still has a purpose in life, has plans for her future, positive thinking that ‘I can and can’ and keep trying and not easily discouraged,” said Sali.
