Good news for Internet users. Researchers report mentions, do online activities on the internet at least an hour a day can increase the IQ and the ability to remember.
Researchers from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to compare the brains of participants who frequently use the Internet and who rarely use the internet.
The result, a group of participants who do surf an hour a day for five days to have the front part of the brain (prefrontal cortex), which is part of the brain that functions to make decisions and receive information on a more active complex, whereas it was previously inactive part.
“This suggests that brain function can be changed and improved very quickly along with the use of the internet. Ability to process information and work on multitasking activities without error also increased. This study shows that the average IQ can increase with the digital culture,” says Gary Small, Professor of Psychiatry and Bio-Behavioural Science at UCLA, was quoted as Dailymail.
Even doing ordinary activities like sorting e-mail can enhance the brain’s ability to make decisions which are important and unimportant, and that could affect one’s mental health.
But the researchers warned against excessive use of the Internet could affect the way they think, feel and personality.
“The advantage the Internet can ruin interpersonal skills and lack of social relationships. If you work all day in front of the computer, make sure you also get along with people around than in the virtual world to socialize or for entertainment by playing games on the internet,” said Professor Small.
