Snoring are experienced by almost every people, especially if sleeping in conditions that are too tired. Snoring is not normal if you experience it everytime you sleep and the danger signs to watch out your body.
National Sleep Foundation recorded more than 18 million of American adults have breathing problems during sleep, and many of those do not know have such habit.
Most people think that snoring is a side effect of a busy lifestyle and exhausting. For some cases, it was true. But there must be known and people must realize that there is a difference between regular snoring with breathing problems.
The research has shown that breathing problems during sleep indicates there are serious problems in a person’s body.
Apnea or respiratory problem that occurs again and again and disturb one’s sleep can occurs when the muscles of the back of the throat failed to open channels for breathing air.
This can be caused by the wrong sleep patterns and low intake of oxygen in the blood, and ultimately lead to various diseases such as hypertension, heart, mood and memory problems.
A recent study at the University of Maryland Medical Center, as quoted by CNN, Tuesday (14/7/2009), found that respiratory problems or apnea during sleep may increase depression and worsen nightmares and post-traumatic stress.
Usually people with apnea often feel sleepy during the day, which may increase the risk of car accidents too. So how does one know that snoring is a sign of abnormality in the body ?
“When the snoring problem is affecting everyday life, then you should meet your doctor,” said Dr. Thomas Lorusso, director of the Northern Virginia Sleep Diagnostic Centers.
“The couple should consider their partners in the same bed as the couple often stopped breathing or snoring very loudly,” Lorusso said. Someone who sleep with you know better your snoring habit than yourself.
The symptoms that occurred around noon day also can be diagnosed if a person has apnea or not. Most people that have apnea are often sleepy, hard to concentrate and hard to wake in the morning.
Lorusso said that the best way to find out your sleeping habit is to recall the activities performed throughout the day. Was tiring or not and whether the apnea symptoms happen to you during the day or not.
So how do I eliminate the bad habits which can endanger your body ? Change your lifestyle which is not healthy right now.
“Stay away from alcohol. It can make the muscles that streaming the air at the top of the throat relaxed and make the airflow becomes smooth,” said Lorusso.
Weight loss and reducing smoking habit can also prevent the problem. Smoking can cause upper airway breathing swelling, which can aggravate the apnea disease.
