A new health care information study suggests health care treatment of penile erectile dysfunction can be done with the “Shockwaves treatment”, as reported by LiveScience. In a study done on animals, low-intensity shockwaves have been proven to trigger growth of new blood vessels from existing ones.

Yoram Vardi, head of the neurology department of Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel speculated that shockwave therapy could help men with erectile dysfunction problems arising from lack of blood flow to the penis. The health information researchers carried out tests to 20 volunteers with an average age of 56 years who have erectile dysfunction about three years, each penis received approximately 300 shockwaves for three minutes. The men have two weekly sessions for three weeks, and then repeat this treatment after three weeks of rest. The significant increment seen in 15 of 20 male volunteers.

This natural health care study is not a cure for everyone, said Vardi. This research is only intended for them who have nerve or muscle problems, and lack of blood flow to the penis. The researchers will further expand their research with the placebo group. Vardi said, “This is just the beginning, much remains to be understood. We also want to see how long this response will persist.”
