Want to know the secret of longevity? Researchers say, be a vegetarian and eat less protein than fish or meat. Once researchers believe that by reducing calories by 60 percent can extend the useful life. But now researchers argue, the truth is less protein and be a vegetarian.

Simply by reducing the protein from meat, fish or nuts, someone could have a longer life without the need to reduce calories to death. A natural health study by Dr Matthew Piper from the Institute of Healthy Ageing at University College London to prove it.

Health care researchers using monkeys as experimental animals. Based on that study, reducing calories by 30 percent can reduce risk of heart disease and cancer and increasing age up to one third.

Other experiments conducted on flies that were given an amino acid modification of proteins. The result, they are given a few amino acids have a longer life. Although flies and humans are different, but the researchers believe the effect is at least not be too different.

“Humans have four times more genes than the fly, but they have much in common biologically. So if it is equated with human beings, behavior and biological effects would be similar,” explained Dr Pipper as quoted from the Telegraph’s health care information.

Amino acids, which became the key protein, is a methionine. By reducing the levels of methionine from proteins contained in meat and beans, the possibility of greater longevity.

According Pipper, extreme dietary protein but still within limits and not malnutrition, could add an average age of the British people for 25 years, which ultimately bring someone up to age 100 years.

“It was not easy to say eat less meat and beans for a long life. But the point is how to balance the protein content,” said Dr Pipper.

The key message is, reduce the foods that have high levels of methionine, which many found on meats and beans, and lots to eat vegetables. That’s the key to longevity, in addition to still exercise and adequate rest.
