Loughner was in the mental health system; at 15, 7 years earlier. HE was most probably treated with psych meds, which contributed to his problems.

There has never been any truth to the argument that mental illness is caused by chemical imbalances; but the drugs cause them after treatment. The right answer to mental illness is Prayer in Jesus name. Jesus healed mentally and physically ill people and gave his followers authority to do the same. It works. I know from experience.
