The doctors say that having a tongue piercings can increase the natural health risk of brain swelling. An archive of Neurology reported how a man aged 22 years died of an experienced brain swelling after several weeks of tongue piercing.

Doctors from the man, has informed that there is an infection that can spread into the bloodstream which can harm the brain. Experts say body piercing is done on the tongue, more often cause broken teeth and mouth infections, but sometimes also cause problems in heart.

“There are many potential complications if you do pierced tongue, ranging from pain and swelling, mouth parts are scratched, or broken teeth can also suffer from bleeding gums and abrasion of prolonged,” said Professor Damien Walmsley, a scientific advisor of the British Dental Association, as quoted from BBC News’s health care information.

Walmsley also add that the place in the oral piercings have a substantial risk of infection. The most important message is in the area of oral piercing should be avoided. Problems associated with body piercings are usually triggered by poor hygiene that existed during the piercing procedure and nursing home care is not taken into account.
