How does the Dental Care System work in Europe?

I know here in America we’ve heard talk that in a lot of the European countries, your medicine is “socialized” and government-funded. But I was wondering if you could tell me something about your care system; is that government-funded too? Or do you have to get private insurance (like here in the US) to get covered?

Also, if you could tell us which European you live in, I’d appreciate it.
