Babies who are born in the world is sacred and human normally likes the opposite sex. But the way some people behave in life is not a homosexual (gay). Does this mean that gay behavior can be contagious?
Researchers from Queen Mary’s School of Biological and Chemical Sciences and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm Finding genetic factors and environmental factors can play an important role in shaping the behavior of homosexuals. These findings have been reported in the scientific journal Archives of Sexual Behavior.
“This study puts that we are seeking a single ‘gay gene’ or one of the environmental variables that can be used to determine the behavior of homosexuals, because of factors that can affect a person’s sexual orientation is complex,” said Dr Qazi Rahman, a leading scientist of human sexual orientation, as quoted from Physorg.
Dr Rahman said not only that homosexual behavior can be influenced by a mixture of genetic and environmental factors, but someone heterosexual behavior is also influenced both.
While the research conducted by a team led by Dr Niklas Langstrom from the Karolinska Institute found environmental factors have more influence than genes. Environmental factors have the effect of up to 64 percent.
Although a person does not have the gay gene, it could have developed a same-sex behavior when environmental factors supportive. An example often seen same-sex behavior shown in public. Because it can be said that homosexual behavior can be transmitted to others.
3826 Research Dr Niklas analyzing sets of twins (7.62 persons) aged 20-47 years in Sweden. This study involved pairs of identical and fraternal twins. Identical twins share all genes, while fraternal twins share only half of its genes.
The participant was asked about the total number of opposite sex and their sex partner has ever had. Apparently obtained genetic and environmental factors are equally affects a person’s personality, but the rates are different.
“Overall, genetic factors contribute about 35 per cent difference in homosexual behavior and environmental factors such as social conditions, family, parenting or examples of behavior contributed approximately 64 percent. In other words factors that most affect a man can be gay or straight is environment, “he said.
Environmental factors can cause a person suspected of being gay is wrong upbringing from their parents since childhood, divorced parents, had experienced sexual harassment, has a social circle that the majority is gay, the psychological side of the person and the many examples of gay behavior are nearby. Gay behavior is often seen around will unconsciously influence people’s behavior itself.
Gay behavior found in the majority community as many of the boys in the dorms, prisons, workers at sea. Like same-sex desire arises because the environmental conditions there are no women.
So although it is not an illness, gay behavior can be contagious. Another expert believes gays can be cured because of human sexual behavior can actually be controlled.
