Anti Aging Drug Found In Soil

Land in the South Pacific islands known to contain minerals that can fight the aging process. A study has proven it.

When the U.S. researchers who try it on the old rats, the results could extend the life of these mice from the previous estimate of more than 38%.

The findings which are published in the journal Nature gives new hope for the world of health in an effort to slow the aging process for old people.

But the experts in the UK still opposed to the discovery for extending human life, because the drug can reduce human immune system.

Rapamycin, a drug which had actually been first discovered in the eastern islands in the 1970′s, usually used to prevent organ rejection in patients who will be transplanted, open coronary arteries, and also as a cure for cancer.

Researchers from Texas, Michigan and Maine gave the drug in mice of an age similar to humans at the age of 60 years, and also his physical condition that was susceptible disease.

“I never expected to find anti-aging pill at the present time. Rapamycin can promise this,” says Barshop Institute researcher, Dr. Alan Richardson, as quoted by BBC News, Saturday (11/7/2009).

The effect offered by rapamycin equal to restrict the entry of food calories, which is also known to prolong life.

“Rapamycin is looking for protein target in the cell, called mTOR, which functioning in the body’s as metabolic processes and stress response,” said Alan.

However, researchers must find a way to reformulating this drug to remain stable when entering the rat digestive tract before the drug effect decreases.

“Although the experiment was successful in mice, but again should be developed more for humans. Environmental experiments in mice are sterile and free from infection which is not possible in human populations’” said Dr. Lynne Cox, an expert on aging at the University of Oxford.

“Apart from the effects that can prolong life, it’s best not to try the drug now, because it still must be developed. The most important thing is not extend life, but health age,” he added.
